Two DSU election candidates won the most votes for the positions of President and VP Academic, but due to disqualifications, the positions have been awarded to opposing candidates.
Jamie Arron (candidate, DSU President, 58.3% of votes) and Aaron Beale (candidate, DSU VP Academic, 61.2% of votes) have both filed an appeal to the DSU elections committee, citing the disqualifications as being unfair.
CKDU spoke with Aaron Beale about his appeal. Since this interview, CKDU has learned that the elections committee has ruled against both appeals. The candidates have 5 days to re-appeal, this time to the Judicial Board. The DSU Elections Committee that turned down both appeals is the same body that originally ruled to disqualify both candidates.
CKDU was unable to reach Jamie Arron for an interview. He has set up a public website to share his appeal letters and supporting documents.
